On Monday 22nd July, the Early Years children went on a school trip to Butterfly World. This was a lovely way to finish our growth topic and the end of the year. The children's behaviour was excellent throughout the day. Each class visited the Insect Study Centre for an Education session to find out about butterflies and other insects. The children were able to handle some of the insects. We were then guided around Ant World, where we observed and found out about the Leaf Cutter Ants, followed by a visit to the Tropical Butterfly House to look at the many species of Butterflies and Moths they have. We even spotted a few caterpillars on the leaves.
The children also walked around the Designer Gardens, talking about what they liked or disliked and looking for ideas about how to improve the Early Years Garden. When visiting the Ivan Hicks' Leaf Gardens, the children were able to view everything from an ants' perspective. The highlight of the children's day was lunch and they had a brief opportunity to explore the adventure playround. Due to the extremely hot weather, we had to leave early but luckily we had managed to see everything before we left. Below are a few photographs from our visit.
