A Teaching Assistant at St George’s CE Infant School in Amersham has been fund raising for the Rennie Grove Hospice. On Friday afternoon Jackie Bath had her head shaved to raise funds. Parents, colleagues and children at the school on White Lion road were encouraged to cheer on Jackie and to make donations to have a go at shaving her hair off.
The Rennie Grove Hospice provides care for cancer patients and bereavement packages for families affected.
Headteacher Toby Long said ‘We were delighted to support Jackie in raising funds for this most worthy cause. The children thought she was very brave, demonstrating one of our school values – courage.’
Jackie Bath said ‘My dearest friend Jackie Kirby was diagnosed with cancer in June and started her chemo this month. So I thought… if there’s going to be one bald Jackie there might as well be two! It’s done in the name of friendship.’
