New space for Learning and Play at St George’s

Local politician Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan MP, officially opened the new facility and saying “It was delightful to once again visit St George’s school to open yet another facility for the children. The tyre park will provide hours of fun and good exercise thanks to the PTA and the Big Lottery Fund who provided funding. The school has been transformed over the past four years with the excellent leadership of Mr Long, a dedicated staff team and proactive Governors ably led by Mr David Kirchheimer.”
Head Teacher Mr Toby Long explained “the school has increased its numbers so significantly over recent years, that the time came to think about developing a new and interesting space for the children to play in all year round. We are lucky enough to have a large and beautiful field but given the British weather we needed an all-weather area for the children to use to aid outdoor learning across the curriculum, including our Forest Schools initiative. Working in collaboration with Pentagon Sports we have been able to secure funding from the Big Lottery Fund and combine it with additional money raised by our very hard working PTA.”
Julie Addis-Fuller Co-Chair of the PTA added “We were thrilled to be able to help fund this new space for the children and it is really satisfying to see them having fun whilst keeping fit in a variety of different ways in such a flexible space.” Commenting on the new play area Mr Paul Aitchison, owner of Little Dragons Pre-School and wrap around care provider said “it’s great for us to be able to use this space, as we provide on-site high quality wrap around care for a number of local schools. This wonderful new facility allows both our pre-school children and 4-7 year olds the opportunity to explore and play”.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the Big Lottery Fund and St George’s Infant School, Amersham’s PTA the school has been able to build a new all-weather space utilising Pentagon Sport’s expertise.
