Phonics and Reading
At St George’s, reading is the gateway to learning and is prioritised across the curriculum. Following the EYFS framework and National Curriculum for KS1, we build strong foundations through daily systematic phonics (Read Write Inc), developing fluency, comprehension and a rich vocabulary. Children encounter diverse texts and authors, fostering imagination and empathy. Reading at St George’s inspires children to believe in themselves as readers, enjoy the magic of stories and achieve success across all areas of learning.
