Funding for primary schools
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games gave us a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire the nation to enjoy sport. The Government is determined to secure a significant and lasting legacy from the Games. Developing an enjoyment of sport and physical activity, and promoting a healthy lifestyle in children from an early age, are vital aspects of that. To support this, the Prime Minister announced in March 2014 a cross-Government programme providing significant additional funding for primary schools.
In the documents attached below you will be able to find details of the Sports Premium Grants Funding awarded to George's CE Infant School for the current academic year and details of how we intend to use it.
We will consider the following things when deciding how best to spend this money:
- hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE;
- paying for professional development opportunities in PE/sport (including providing cover to release teachers)
- hiring dance specialists to work with primary teachers as part of the PE curriculum lesson planning
- running sports competitions, or increasing participation in the School Games
- providing places for pupils in after school and holiday sport clubs
- pooling funding together with other primary schools
- of the available statistical evidence on school sport.
